A naming ceremony provides a special opportunity to welcome a child into a family or community. A naming ceremony is not just used to welcome a new born baby, you could use a naming ceremony to mark many other important family events. Naming ceremonies can be a great way to join two families together, to celebrate an adoption or to appoint supporting adults.
Many people are moving away from the more traditional child ceremonies such as christenings, but still want to formally mark the arrival of their precious child.
A naming ceremony provides a meaningful way to celebrate a new addition to the family or community. Having this more formalised event fosters a sense of belonging and can help strengthen bonds, by establishing the identity and significance of your new arrival.
If you want to appoint supporting adults (similar to godparents), a naming ceremony is a fantastic opportunity for those adults to publicly pledged their lifelong love and support to your child.
The ceremony itself can be created to meet all your needs. The location, content and length of the ceremony can be as unique as your child. I will work with you to create a beautiful and bespoke service, which can include poems, readings and rituals and can also contain religious or spiritual elements if you desire.
There really isn’t much we can’t include!
How it works
I will meet you face to face either at your home or at the venue for the naming ceremony. Here we can talk through the ceremony content, discussing items such as appointing supporting adults or involving other family members such as siblings. Once I get a feel for what you want I will then write a full ceremony script for you to review. We will continue to work together on the ceremony until you are completely happy.
On the day I will be there throughout, to ensure the flawless running of the ceremony, allowing you to relax and enjoy this special occasion. I will only have your booking scheduled in for that day, so there is no time pressure.
After the ceremony I will present you with a souvenir script which you can look back on in years to come and also share with your child when they are old enough.
